Massage Therapy
Swedish Massage
consist of long gliding strokes in the direction of blood flow toward the heart. It is one of the most common types of massage with the primary intention being relaxation. Pressure may vary from light to firm but is NOT a deep tissue massage.
- Relaxes tight muscles, increases circulation, releases fascia.
- Stimulates lymphatic system to detoxify and improve immune function.
- Provides overall feeling of relaxation to reduce stress and clear one’s mind.
Deep Tissue Massage
Improve circulation, flexibility and range of motion. Release tension, break down scar tissue, or newly formed adhesions/knots that are smaller in size and help allow muscles to glide as they should. For larger adhesions, chronic issues that have been there for awhile or as a result of injuries, Sports Massage is also recommended.
Hot Stone Massage
Hot stones are applied to tense areas or trigger points to aid in relaxation and allow for a deeper massage where needed. Hot stones help open blood vessels resulting in better circulation and can be physically and mentally relaxing. The massage itself will include a mixture of Swedish and Deep Tissue.

Sports Massage
Different from a deep tissue massage in which pressure is adjusted to manipulate the deeper tissue layers in the body. What are the deeper layers? It’s the tissue layers that lay on top of the muscle, though not the muscle itself. The therapist works on these layers in a Deep Tissue massage, but not so deep as to work all the way through like with a Sports Massage. Deep Tissue pressure is still effective to release any NEWLY formed or SMALL knots and tension. We emphasize new or small knots because larger knots are caused by a build up over time, or possibly due to an injury. This is where a specially trained Sports Massage therapist can provide more relief.
A Sport Massage is the manipulation of the MUSCLE itself (soft tissue) in order to prevent or improve injuries. It’s going past the layers down to the muscle, might be a bit intense and requires conscious breathing. The therapist has a broader, more specified knowledge and application. He or she needs this in order to efficiently and safely manipulate the muscles. Therapists who perform Sports Massage tend to work on athletes or those who have had injuries. Communication with your therapist is critical if you’ve had injuries.
